In order to better serve their estimated clientele, MSC decided to merge the Panama/Med service and the Puma service (USA West Coast to Panama) into one single service. This implies that, instead of a transhipment at Panama, MSC will offer a direct service for all cargo bound to/from USA W.Coast from/to West Mediterranean. Furthermore MSC will provide on time service for the Transhipment cargo via the various hub ports of Gioia Tauro, Valencia, Cristobal and Balboa. This revised service will be renamed “California Express” and will be operated by the same 8 vessels presently employed on the current 2 strings being merged, with following rotation: - Gioia Tauro, Naples, La Spezia, Valencia, Cristobal, Balboa, Long Beach, Oakland, Balboa, Cristobal, Gioia Tauro.
The service change will be implemented with immediate effect. The first westbound sailing will be performed by MSC Aniello voy 255 A en route to Cristobal with ETA Sept.15th, and ETA Long Beach Sept. 24th. The first eastbound vessel which is to sail straight from USA West coast to the Med will be the MSC Caracas voy 22R, currently in Operations in Oakland with ETA Balboa Sept 15th and ETA Gioia Tauro Sept 28th.
