Rationalisation of services between Far East and Mediterranean / Europe 18/05/2009

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company will further rationalize their service pattern from the Far East to the Mediterranean and Europe in order to reduce surplus capacity and to match existing and anticipated cargo volumes.

As planned with the delivery of additional vessels of 14'000 Teus in May and in June 2009, the Jade Service will be withdrawn and all Jade Service cargo for the West Mediterranean and East Mediterranean will be absorbed by using the remaining Silk, Lion, Dragon and Tiger Service from the Far East.Vessel upgrades will also be introduced on the Tiger Service, where vessels of 8200 Teu will be introduced together with a new port rotation.

The reconfigured services from the Far East will now be as follows:

1. Silk Service

Eleven vessels of 11'000 to 14'000 TEUs capacity with the following rotation:
Xingang, Ningbo, Shanghai, Xiamen, Yantian, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore, Suez Transit, Sines,
Felixstowe, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Valencia,Suez Transit, Jebel Ali, Singapore, Hong Kong,
Xiangang.


2. Lion Service

Ten vessels of 9'200 TEUs capacity with the following rotation:
Pusan, Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Nansha, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore, Suez
Transit, Valencia, Le Havre, Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Felixstowe, Suez Transit, Singapore, Chiwan,
Pusan.


3. Dragon Service

Eleven vessels fo 8'400 TEUs capacity with the following rotation:
Dalian, Xingang, Pusan, Ningbo, Shanghai, Fuzhou, Yantian, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore, Suez
Transit, Gioia Tauro, Napoli, La Spezia, Fos sur Mer, Barcelona, Valencia, Suez Transit, Jeddah,
Salalah, Jebel Ali, Singapore, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Dalian.


4. Tiger Service

Ten vessels of 8'200 TEUs capacity with the following rotation:
Qingdao, Pusan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore, Suez Transit, Beirut,
Piraeus, Istanbul, Gioia Tauro,Suez Transit, Jeddah, Jebel Ali, Singapore, Qingdao.

These changes will enable MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company to maintain comprehensive cover of all the key markets from the Far East.
